David Lush is directing his first show for the Raytown Arts Council but it is actually the 70th show he has directed over the years. He has appeared in 127 stage productions in seven states starting in 1964 with The Sound of Music. Lush has been in the media arena for over 35 years in newspapers and TV. He has been a host of three live news-talk radio shows.
Lush moved to Raytown in 2016 from Greenville, Mississippi, where he was news producer for WABG TV6 (ABC). At WABG, he was also a part of the cast of the TruTV reality show, Breaking Greenville, which aired in 2015. While in Mississippi, he was managing editor at the Pulitzer-prize winning The Delta Democrat Times and business page editor and reporter for The Bolivar Commercial. During his news career, he won eight Associated Press writing awards.
Lush currently works for the Raytown HyVee and the Kansas City Chiefs as a guest services representative. He also provides social media consulting for several Mississippi grant projects and small businesses.
